Recently, Portage Community reviewed and chose our 2022 scholarship recipient to attend medical school in the Dominican Republic. We would love to introduce you to Miguelina and share her letter of acceptance and thanks. We are delighted to have Miguelina join the other scholarship recipients this fall!

Dear Portage Community, May God Bless you all with eternal blessings!
I genuinely wanted to give you my gratitude for scholarship I have been honored with. This selection has been a prayer that God has answered through you, and I will always be indebted to you all. I feel more than privileged to have been selected and now my prayer is that I take advantage of this opportunity and that I be able to exceed mine and your expectations too.
It might sound funny, but I still check my inbox every day to see if that message I received from Dr. Sollanlly Nuñez McFarland is real and that I am not just dreaming. I hope that gives you an idea of how much this means to me. That February 24th, when I received that face call to let me know I had been chosen to be part of your program, I was speechless. What I felt at that moment, that overwhelming happiness, that inexplicable joy, could not be properly expressed with mere words. The only word that I can say is “Thank You”. I feel so grateful to God and for all of you.
Once again, I just want you to know that there are no words to describe my gratitude and the huge privilege that this is to me. I really appreciate the opportunity to be able to study a career that I love. Knowing that it is possible just because of you, means the whole world to me. If there is a bigger word to say thank you, that is the one I want to say. I am really eager to start and so excited to accomplish this program with excellence. My goal is to make you all proud about me and that you can rejoice seeing me grow intellectually and professionally.
